Elevator.

For the Windows XP operating system. This utility can be used to execute applications using increased or decreased user privileges.

Staff who login with administrator privileges: Other applications such as Internet Explorer, which could pose a security risk within your network can be assigned to Elevator. Elevator will then ensure that these applications execute with lower user permissions safeguarding your local PC and network.

Staff who login with basic user privileges: Certain software titles within the NHS and other organisations require higher permissions to be able to function correctly, so staff are given administrator privileges. However, now applications can be assigned to Elevator which will execute the application, increasing its privileges, so that the user role is unimportant.

Wireless Locksmith.

Everyone knows how insecure Wireless Networks are when improperly configured.

This business application, suitably named after the architect of the software, secures your wireless router and connects your clients automatically. It uses WPA/WPA2, secured with TKIP or AES (preferred) and a full length, full strength key.

If your router is connected to a "Local Area Network" then the "locksmith" server can be configured to rotate your private key hourly or daily.

The full length, full strength key makes it near impossible to "Brute Force" hack, but the addition of the rotating key makes it 100% impossible.

Gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper was developed to ensure that the NHSnet connection was not misused and the “Code of Conduct” broken.

Onsite administrators could cut an NHSnet connection to any PC under their control if misuse was detected.

After providing expert testimony at a case brought against a GP by the General Medical Council, in 2006, Gatekeeper was re-released to help GP Surgeries keep within the Code of Conduct laid down by the NHS.
The NHSnet is supplied to assist staff in their daily duties, but the system is regularly abused for personal and non-business related activities.

The Global Exchange.

The Global Exchange is a voice and video conferencing tool that will allow multiple users to communicate across broadband using their PC’s.

Doc Cabinet.

Keeping hard copies of correspondence and other documents can take up space in your office and be time consuming to locate if required. Doc Cabinet provides the ability to scan documents and retrieve them in seconds from any PC connected to your network. Scans can be reprinted without loss of image quality, should it be required.

PAS Printer.

During the PAS Hospital Project, undertaken by us on behalf of a Primary Care Trust. The new Thin Client Patient Administration System was required to print documents to all Hospital Wards and to all Wards within another hospital several miles away.

This was proving difficult as NHS staff were being presented with 48 printers to choose from. We designed and coded a utility that resolved the issue within 24 hours. The 48 printers were reduced to 5 and proved extremely effective until the issue was corrected in 2007.

CAB Template.

Due to “Choose and Books” lack of availability in the Clinical Software, the CAB template utility was created. This provided GPs with a list of services on offer, under the new referral scheme. “Choose and Book” allows patients to choose a hospital or clinic and book an appointment with a specialist, whilst keeping track of their referral via the internet.

Nurses & Therapists Database Rebuild.

After NTD was completed there was later a requirement for the Nurses & Therapist database to be split into five separate databases, however the trust managers still required access to execute reports.

NTD Remote Rebuild simply re-joined all of these databases from their various locations into one database at the managers office, allowing read only access.

Nurses & Therapists Database.

The Nurses & Therapist database was created initially for medical staff, but later also incorporated PCT staff.

This database recorded:
Sickness, Salary Grades
Job Titles, PCT Locations,
DOB, Working Hours
CRB Required Reminder Dates,
Vacation Used,
Overtime,
Maternity / Paternity.

This allowed managers to execute interactive reports which produced detailed information and charts on all records for easy viewing.

SAVAU.

Sophos Antivirus Auto Updater. Prior to version 5 of Sophos Antivirus if a pc was not on a domain it was impossible to add the pc to SavAdmin to receive automatic updates.

SAVAU enabled clients to automatically update their IDE's and quarterly software updates via the Internet. Since the release of version 5, Sophos is now able to fulfil this task by itself.

TScan.

Created to simplify scanning in the GP clinical “System 6000” Software, it provided a scanning icon within Microsoft Word. This single click operation allowed a document to be scanned into a patients notes quickly and efficiently.

This process allowed hyperlinked insertions of scanned images to be located in another directory or hard drive, simplifying hard drive upgrades.

Mail Account Manager.

Under the NHS Project Connect every GP surgery was to be linked to the NHS Portal. This allowed staff to gain access to the Internet and NHS email facilities.

It was the responsibility of the various Trusts to supply either an email Server on or off site.
TThose surgeries who were provided with an onsite Server, had to create new accounts themselves using the NHS format. “Mail Account Manager” simplified the process by requiring only the first and last name.

Backup & Restore Exchange.

In 2000, several Primary Care Trusts had purchased desktop PCs to use as Exchange 5.5 Email Servers at GP surgeries. There was no backup facility incorporated with the original equipment and new equipment had not been budgeted for.

The BRE software was developed to make use of existing equipment onsite and enabled a backup of the Exchange database to be implemented.
